Lebanon reports 279 new cases of coronavirus, tally reaches 5,951
Beirut: As many as 279 people tested positive for novel coronavirus in Lebanon on Friday, pushing the countrywide caseload to 5,951.
As per Lebanese health ministry, there was no change in death toll which stood at 70.
Health Minister Hamad Hassan urged justice minister to adopt harsh legal measures against one infected person who arrived from a foreign country but did not commit to quarantine and transferred the virus to eight others.
“This threatens health security in the country while impacting the ministry’s efforts in its fight against the virus,” he said.
Lebanon has been fighting against COVID-19 since Feb. 21.
The country has received several donations from different countries for the fight against COVID-19 including China which offered on June 11 around 17,500 masks, 1,500 protective gears, 1,320 goggles and 1,000 shoes covers to Lebanese public hospitals.
